Matt Rippy

Matt Rippy is a UK based actor born in Missouri and raised in Texas. Rippy (as he prefers to be called) enjoyed putting on performances in the living room for family and friends which led to his first public performance at The Country Playhouse at the age of 12. He attended the drama department at Houston’s prestigious High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) and was a member of the Alley Repertory Theatre company for three seasons.

In 1994 Rippy relocated to England where he joined the Reduced Shakespeare Company for a record breaking run in the West End. He would go on to perform, develop and direct with the Reduced for the next twenty years.

Rippy launched his TV and film career in 1995 with a guest appearance on Goodnight Sweetheart for the BBC in the UK. His episode of Torchwood, where he plays the role of the real Captain Jack Harkness, was voted Best Episode by Fans in a 2020 Radio Times survey. He most recently appears in the series Glória on Netflix. Rippy continues to work predominantly on screen in the UK but still rides horses, wears cowboy boots and says “y’all”.
